South Australia has a vast and varied culture. It has a total area of 984 377 kms, forming one eighth part of the Australian continent. One of the driest Australian States and Territories, it has an average annual rainfall of 528 mm, but just over 80 per cent of the State receives an average of less than 250 mm of rain a year.
